Epic of Gilgamesh Flood Story
The extent of linguistic similarities between the flood story in the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Biblical account of the flood suggest that these accounts were not written by independent sources viewing the same event, but that the Biblical text borrowed from the Epic of Gilgamesh. See Kugel, 76.
